Engineering

Harvester’s Engineering program boasts state-of-the-art technology and equipment enabling students access to both world class teaching and world class facilities.

The modern engineering workshop at Harvester College is state of the art. The centre boasts $500,000 AUD worth of industrial “real life” machines, equipment and tools. The manually operated 3 phase machinery in the HTC engineering inventory consists of 6 large lathes, 3 large pedestal drills with rigid tapping capabilities and 1 large knee mill.

All machines are fitted with DRO’s (digital readouts) and are capable of running fluid coolant. Engineering is also home to many advanced manufacturing machines totalling a ¼ of million dollars. These are fully automatic subtractive and additive computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines such as two 3D printers, HAAS SMM2 mill, HAAS ST10 lathe, PlasmaCAM machine, Epilog laser and a Roland MDX40 and sticker machine.

Apart from its machining capabilities, engineering also has the ability for steel and aluminium fabrication. A full range of sheet metal and welding processes are possible at our centre including MIG, TIG, ARC & Oxy welding and a plasma nitride coated Siegmund Welding Table.

Both engineering instructors at Harvester College are trade qualified from industry and both have teaching degrees from university with valid VIT registration.
