Harvester’s Building and Construction course is a dynamic and highly professional training program designed to equip students with elite skills in Carpentry.
The 22338VIC Certificate II in Building & Construction Pre-apprenticeship program aims to:
- Provide learners with basic industry specific skills and knowledge to enable transition into an apprenticeship within the building and construction industries at the Certificate III level.
- Whilst it is not the only pathway to employment, stakeholders encourage new entrants to have a range of basic skills that promote safety and an understanding of how the industry works before commencing a full- time apprenticeship
The target audience for 22338VIC Certificate II in Building & Construction Pre-apprenticeship are internal students from Harvester Technical College (HTC). Students are mixed in both gender and nationality and approximately range from schooling years 11 to 12 (16 – 18yrs of age).
Overview: 22338VIC Certificate II in Building & Construction Pre-apprenticeship has 579 total nominal hours. The qualification consists of 10 core units/modules and 10 specific units/modules. Some units will be delivered individually whereas other units will be clustered and combined within a common project of a practical and or theoretical nature and these are designed to consolidate student’s knowledge and skills. The full-time program is delivered and taught across 1 whole school year.
Delivery method:Students are taught across the whole school year (Self Paced = 101hrs; Training = 360hrs; Assessment= 58hrs) consisting of face to face teaching and practical workshop activities.
Teaching method: all delivery is via the exposition teaching strategy / style (lecture – demonstrate model).
Pathways: This pathway helps school leavers to develop skills and knowledge to assist them to gain a Certificate III apprenticeship. It is anticipated that participants who complete the 22338VIC Certificate II in Building & Construction Pre-apprenticeship will have the skills and knowledge necessary to gain an apprenticeship with an employer in the building and construction industry.
